The recreation area
Linarejos recreation area is one of the most accessible and famous in Sierra de Cazorla. It is located in the heart of Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park.
To access the recreation area, visitors must travel from Cazorla to a crossroads known as El Empalme del Valle. Then take road JF-7092 and, after crossing a bridge over River Guadalquivir, follow road JF-7091.
There is plenty of parking space, picnic areas with chairs and wooden tables, a drinking fountain, a bar just opened in summer and a lovely pool, which becomes very crowded in summer. Visitors will enjoy a perfect day in nature.
The crystalline Linarejos stream crosses the recreation area. There is a lush riverside woodland, among the species black poplar, box, willows, ashes, gall-oaks and viburnum opulus stand out.
Among the fauna fallow deers, wild boars and mouflons stand out. Other animals can be found such as a native crayfish and invertebrates such as the dragonfly. All these animals move freely around the thick wood when it is not crowded.
From this area visitors can access the valley that the River Guadalquivir has forged in the Cerrada del Utrero or get to the astonishing Linarejo waterfall.
There are simple walks that enable visitors to explore the area.
