The recreation area
Empalme del Valle recreation area is located at a crossroad between Cazorla and El Embalse del Tranco (Tranco reservoir), in the heart of Valle Alto del Guadalquivir, in Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park.
The recreation area is surrounded by thick woods and steep hills, the typical landscape of Sierra de Cazorla. There is a small stream of crystalline water, drinking fountains, a kiosk and parking.
There are many hiking walks in this area such as the ones that lead to La Cerrada del Utrero and to La Fuente del Oso.
The vegetation is varied: pine woods, hawthorns, hazelnuts, ferns and other species. The higher part of the recreation area is cleared and visitors can contemplate a panoramic view of the Guadalquivir valley and the Yelmo and Blanquillo peaks.
