The fountain
Mayor Fountain is placed in the Paseo de la Fuente, inside the town of Jamilena.
This is an area of major beauty and singularity. It is home to the aquifer that provided water to Jamilena and it was used both as a drinking trough and a communal washing place since the Middle Ages.
There is a picnic area, a lovely place to take a rest and restore your energy while you contemplate the wonderful panoramic landscape of the El Calvario area.
The current fountain was built in 1980 on top of the former one that was built in 1713. However, some texts prove that the origins of this fountain go back to the 16th century.
