The settlement
Fuente Negra town is located in the interior of Sierra de las Villas. To get there visitors have to take the road (A- 6202) from Villanueva del Arzobispo to El Pantano del Tranco. It is very near to the well known Charco del Aceite.
This town, covered by pines, was built to accommodate the men who built the Tranco dam. Some years ago the town was restored for rural tourism.
Views from the town are beautiful, there are even some viewpoints. There are roads which lead to the River Guadalquivir where one can see the Fuente Negra (Black fountain) which flows its water through 6 spouts to the River Guadalquivir. During the rainy season, the Hoyacillo waterfall should not be missed.
In Fuente Negra region we can find poplar groves, reed beds and riverside woodlands. Wild boars can be seen. Years ago this place was a recreation and camping area that is now abandoned.
