Cañada de las Hazadillas

Description

The Cañada de las Hazadillas is one of the best-known and most visited natural spots in Jaén. This leisure area, about 20 kilometres from the city, is located in the Monte de la Sierra, in the heart of the Sierra Sur, and has more than 2,700 hectares.

Its picnic areas, benches and barbecue areas are some of the strong points that make this place the perfect place to spend a day surrounded by nature. In addition, the Cañada de las Hazadillas has a Nature classroom, which has a capacity for 60 people and is intended for the development of sustainable leisure and nature activities.
Among the landscapes of the Cañada de las Hazadillas, we can enjoy the Monument to the Forest Ranger and the Monument to Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente.

One of its distinguishing features is the multitude of natural fountains found in this natural area, such as the fountain of the Cañada de las Hazadillas, the Fountain of the Cave, the Pool of the Cañada de las Hazadillas, the Fountain of the Bridge, the Fountain of the Pool...

Currently, the Cañada de las Hazadillas and its Nature Classroom are undergoing adaptation and accessibility improvement works in the recreational area.

Cañada de las Hazadillas Route

There is no better hiking plan than the Cañada de las Hazadillas route. With this route of less than 10 kilometres, you will be able to discover the best areas of the Cañada de las Hazadillas and enjoy an authentic natural landscape of Jaén, surrounded by pines, rockroses, bushes...

We make a circular route through some of its emblematic places. We arrive at the fountain and Nature Classroom of the Cañada de las Hazadillas. Going up the forest track, after approximately one kilometre, we turn right at the crossroads we come to, until we reach the Matamulos ravine, along which a path goes up along the same riverbed.

Following this path, we reach the "Roca Horadada", a work of art of nature. It is a rock with a large hole in the centre that will impress anyone who comes to see it.

It is time to descend. In about 500 metres, we reach the forest track and in one kilometre, the crossroads that leads to the Chima. When we reach the refuge, we can enjoy one of the best views of the Sierra Sur, with a panoramic view of the Sierra de la Pandera, Ventisqueros, the valley of Otiñar with its castle and the views of Jaén city in the background.

We descend towards Las Hazadillas, when we come across a slightly steeper descent, with quite a steep slope and abundant vegetation. Along this path, we reach the slope of Los Madroñales, which affords a better view of Otiñar and its imposing castle.

We continue our route and ascend along the edge of the Morrón Romeral, our last stop before reaching the end of the route, which we will have completed in less than four hours.
