The recreation area

La Aquisgrana Recreation Area of is one of the numerous tourist attractions that the La Carolina village offers. The recreation area is located in the north of La Carolina, around 2 km from the village.

La Aquisgrana is enclosed in an old mining area. Over the old mine of La Rosa, structures such as chimneys and a bridge are preserved. This area is near the mine El Manto, where now you can find a car park.

Besides all these cultural and historical aspects, visitors can also enjoy nature since this recreation area is located nearby River La Campana.

The recreation area has picnic areas where barbeques, restaurants with play areas, exhibition rooms and large parking areas can be found.

It’s an ideal place to share a day with family or friends. There are different walks to practice sport.

In this area we can do different hiking and cycle walks, one of them goes through an old gallery over River La Campana. Visitors can cross the gallery by canoe.

Near the recreation area there are three viewpoints. The most important is El Puente del Ferrocarril (Railway Bridge) from which you can see the village of La Carolina andeven Las Navas de Tolosa castle.

Extreme sports can also be practiced in this area, including climbing in one of the old mining bridges.
