The recreation area

La Toba Recreation Area is a free camping site, near the village of La Toba and the Anchuricas reservoir, right in the heart of the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park.

La Toba is located in the valley of the River Segura, in an area full of dense pine forests and very well preserved riverbank vegetation. One can get there by the road that connects the towns of Siles and Yeste (JF-7038).

The campsite offers up to 100 spaces for those visitors who want to enjoy this part of the mountains any time during the year. In addition, the recreation area is equipped with barbeques, benches, tables, rubbish bins, and a non-potable water fountain.

The landscape is rather remarkable due to the large amount of colourful walnut trees that embellish the scenery with their leafiness and, during the autumn, with their intense colours.

The area is specially recommended for hiking, since a number of routes leave from La Toba such as the one that runs next to the beautiful Las Anchuricas reservoir, or the one that takes you to the lovely village of Miller.

Visitors can enjoy the breath taking views over the valley of the River Segura from the nearby village of La Toba. There we also find plenty of natural springs, such as the one known as Nacimiento de la Cueva de La Toba, and a charming rural atmosphere.

The Anchuricas reservoir is another attraction that visitors can find in La Toba. This small reservoir, that gets its water from the River Segura, is confined between dense pine forests and high mountains, and it usually retains its water at a high level. Underneath this reservoir, you will find an old village called Las Casicas. There one can still see its church that peacefully looks onto the reservoir over a mound surrounded by holm oaks, hawthorns and rockroses.

It is possible to see griffon vultures in the area surrounding the reservoir, and we can even find the brown trout, a species that only lives in particularly clean waters. The place is also ideal for canoeing.
